(Note from the editor, of sorts) 👉 It’s been 162 days since the last day I didn’t go into work. I don’t say this for sympathy or attention, I share this info to shed light on what running a business means. You’re all in, because it’s your baby. You’re there every day, because (at this moment) it’s necessary for the survival and success of your business. I love what I do more than I ever thought I could. Out of these last 162 days since returning from Australia (because this business could afford to take the team to Australia in year two!!), I’ve looked forward to going to the shop everyday. • Of course, not everyone’s entrepreneurial journey is like Sunny’s and mine. We made the choice to work everyday but Thanksgiving & Christmas Day of 2018. We chose to keep our retail shop open 7 days/week, because that what our city needs. Closing the doors stops customers from coming to you. In fact, some gift shops in our neighborhood extended their own hours after @harlan.ruby was the only place to gift shop on Sunday am & Monday. We also chose to offer balloons all 7 days. It’s important to us that our clients can walk in and get a balloon. Neither Sunny nor myself are quitters. You say we can’t and we show how we can, but 10x better. We love a challenge. I think that’s why we’ve experienced this incredible growth and success. • Everything we’re doing right now, we taught ourselves. We’ve never taken a balloon class or trained with anyone. We started before DIY tutorials seemed to exist. We’ve carved our own place into the balloon industry within a very short amount of time. Our hand lettering on balloons set ripples of inspiration to many MANY other ballooners, (even if they refuse to admit it to us 😉). Our installations have been for incredible clients like @daveramsey & @mileycyrus & @bridgestonearenaofficial & @victoriassecret etc. We‘re so proud of what we’ve built in the over 3 years of @harlan.ruby and 2 years of @vroomvroomballoon - it has been *literal* blood, sweat, tears and balloon burn (because 🎈 will pop in your face and it hurts!) and worth every minute. • Love, Fi ❤️ #vroomvroomballoon #harlanruby #femaleentrepreneur #womanownedbusiness
